Dr Irene D'Amico

Irene D'Amico
Irene D'Amico is a Reader in Condensed Matter Theory at the University of York. Her research interests include spintronics and in particular spin transport in metals and semiconductors. She has developed schemes and devices for quantum information/computation based on semiconductor nanostructures, including devices to create and distribute entanglement in solid state systems.

She has contributed to more than 80 publications in major international journals and books and given several scientific presentations worldwide.

Irene actively supports gender equality in science. She thinks that physics can be a lot of fun and that the basic concepts in quantum mechanics can surprise even the most fervid imagination.

Irene D'Amico is on the panel of The Borders of Reality as part of The Green Phoenix debate programme in August 2010.
