The Trent programme is arguably the largest mechanical
engineering programme ever undertaken in Europe. The
lecture will consider how the programme is, in effect, the
watest step in a process of engineering evolution starting
with the introduction of gas turbines in the mid-1940’s. Sir
Ralph Robins, former chairman of Rolls Royce plc will
deliver this lecture.
