Stephen Calvert is Carbon Reduction Officer at
	 Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.
	Originally a mechanical engineer with British Aerospace and Rolls-Royce 
	for over 20 years, Stephen became more directly engaged with the energy 
	sector in the 1990s as Chief Operating Officer of 
	The Northern Energy Initiative (TNEI).  
	There he developed projects to support North East businesses and 
	communities by aiding improvements in energy efficiency and in 
	sustainable energy supply.  He was involved in the establishment of 
	NaREC at Blyth and in the development of renewable energy projectsand 
	also contributed to the Regional Spatial Strategies for the North East 
	and East Midlands regions to aid increases in local energy generation and supply.
    
    
	At Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council Stephen has been responsible for the 
	Carbon Management Programme produced the Council’s renewable energy strategy 
	and has overseen the installation of around 200kW of building mounted PV with 
	a further 250kW planned.  He is also working with the local process industry 
	on a City Deal backed district heating project.  He is an active member of 
	the NE Energy Leadership Council and a visiting lecturer on energy matters 
	to the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
